Anybody can make a recipe but how do you get dinner on the table?
In the Beginning
When I was a girl, my mom worked and she didn’t have time to teach me the skills I needed concerning food preparation. Of course, I didn’t care anything about it anyway. I could make a frozen pizza and a can of ravioli after school. What else did I need?
Once I got married, I started cooking but not well. Way back then I didn’t have a clue what to do or how to do it. It was when I was a single mother of 3 that the desire really hit me though. I needed to be better and do better for my children.
Back then, I would go from the refrigerator to the pantry to the freezer looking for something… anything for dinner. What I did find was not going to work. Who can cook dinner with a frozen slab of meat or make a recipe without that essential ingredient? Invariably, pasta was the fallback. It was quick and easy.
Get a Plan
Today, I have a plan. All of the food for the meals on my meal plan is in the pantry. No more searching for the ingredients for my meals. My food is organized so I can pull it out for dinner in a few seconds.
I don’t make a plan and then buy food no matter the cost. I save money because I buy my food on sale. There’s no more wasted time looking for something to eat, or running back out to the store. I have everything I need.
