So…I took a little vacation for a few days. My mom has a timeshare and so we have a kitchen. I have ALWAYS brought food to eat. I usually make a very comprehensive meal plan when I go.
Well, this time I just threw some things in my cooler and went with it. I didn’t plan which meals we would eat out and which we would eat in. I didn’t make a shopping list of what to buy when we got here. And the biggest Faux Pas of my vacation…I didn’t make my meal plan.
I wasn’t thinking and I did OK. I didn’t have to go on a major shopping trip or anything. But, I did have to buy a bag of flour (good thing they had a 2 lb package), a box of salt, and a bottle of BBQ sauce. Now, if I had made my plan ahead of time I could have brought a zip lock bag of flour and my own salt. This is a lesson for you as well as me (of course I know better). Make your meal plan ahead. When you get to the grocery store, your shopping list should only reflect the items you need and do not have at home. When you don’t have a plan you will always spend more than you should have.
